About the Student Life Awards (SLA)
The Student Life Awards celebrate what makes UConn special—its people. Each year, the program honors students, faculty, staff, and student organizations who go above and beyond to create a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful campus experience. From student leaders and changemakers to mentors, advisors, and student orgs making a difference, the awards spotlight the many ways individuals help UConn thrive.
Started as a way to recognize exceptional contributions outside the classroom, the SLA program has grown into one of the most meaningful honors on campus. With awards spanning leadership, service, innovation, scholarship, school spirit, and advocacy, the program reflects the wide range of ways people show up for their communities. Whether it’s through launching new initiatives, building a culture of care, or simply leading by example, SLA recipients are making UConn better every day.
If you’ve seen someone doing great work—quietly or loudly—SLA is your chance to celebrate them. Nominations are open to everyone, and we encourage students to nominate peers, staff members, faculty, or themselves.
